Our Second Trip around the Sun!

Charlotte Harbor Parrot Heads, our birthday was able to raise $5,000.00 for the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition and $1,500.00 for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. That's our way of partying with a purpose!
Happy Birthday CHPHC!
I hope everyone understands why I don't take much time on the microphone during meetings. It's been our mission to keep things about the club, our "party with a purpose," and the music. We try to share by email to "go green" and if you feel you are missing out on any details - just let me, or any board member, know. We'll tell you as much as we know! We may not have the answer, but we'll find the answer between all of us! It's been my goal since the day I started the club to keep it simple & fun. If you miss an announcement, I can personally update you, or any member of the board can as well. I enjoy spending the meetings & the Birthday Weekend talking to the members, especially new and prospective members that don't know many members yet! Always bring me your questions, visitors, and I always appreciate the great hugs!
Over this Labor Day Weekend, you will hear us send out some sincere "Thank You" and recognition. We could never thank everyone that helped make this weekend possible, but we do want to introduce the club to some of the leaders. If you helped in any way to make this weekend happen, please know how much we appreciate it, and your fellow members do as well!
Friday Night we will make those announcements between Captain Josh and Jack & the Band playing - around 8pm. Saturday - there will be some announcements and reminders by the pool. Dinner will be served at 6 P.M. Saturday. Once everyone has been served, we will introduce you to the group that planned this weekend. The PLAN: we'll be done in time for Jim & the BBB to start at 7 p.m. We don't want to miss out on the music or stop the music for announcements! Sunday will be the same - after the Sangria and Door Decorating contests, get on the trolley and go over early to the Nav-A-Gator. The music will be from 1-5, but, again, we will have some special announcements at 12:40 p.m. You don't want to miss those! We'll have surprises and new information all along the way! After 1 p.m., it's all about the music. And remember, the place will be for us only, but it will be packed. Go early, take your chair, and bring any type of shade you can (umbrella, tents, or anything else you can think of!)
Our club is about the music, the friendships, the fun, and the purpose. I want to thank all of our members, 438 as I write this in August, for their support. Every member adds to this club in their unique way, and we thank you for being a part of this crazy club. Without your support we could not pull off a Birthday Party like this. Our Board & Birthday Party Committee did a great job, and please be sure to give plenty of Team Drinks on their behalf. Also, don't forget to thank the First Parrot, Matt, for all of his help. Not only does he help me with the kids as we plan, help the board, but he also never complains that I focus on this club all year long! Thanks Honey, for being the best First Parrot a gal could ask for! As to all of our guests this weekend, if you traveled for days or just for an hour—thank you for celebrating this weekend with us. It means a great deal to our group, that you decided to party in Charlotte Harbor to celebrate CHPHC's 2nd Trip around the Sun!
Let's Party With A Purpose in Charlotte Harbor!

Hey Charlotte Harbor Parrotheads, what tiiiiiime is it? It's time to give ourselves a big ole pat on the back. At our most fabulous 2nd Birthday Party we raised $3,800 for the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition and $2,300 for the DeSoto County Sheriff Youth Ranch. Not too shabby for folks who just got together to have some fun. A big thank you to everyone who sponsored us and everyone who volunteered over the weekend to make our party the success it was!!
Friday night (9/4) at the Coral Rock Tiki Bar we started out with Capt. Josh who played all the good ole Buffett along with some Josh originals, and then Jack Mosley and the boys took the stage to crank out some great tunes of their own. Buz Massengale won the 50/50, lucky bastard, and then the Key West Casino fed many of us after heading back to the HIE…or so I'm told. Yours truly might not actually remember being there.
Saturday night at Benedetto's we had our Chinese raffle and silent auctions along with the big chair raffle. Lots of people got lots of great stuff, and Kathy & Rick Peltier won the Adirondack chair with the club logo on it. It's a really nice chair. Thanks again to Wayne Hoyt for donating it. Jim Morris and the BBB kept folks dancing and then Jack Mosley and the boys finished it off outside on the deck.
Sunday morning we had a sangria making contest and Tampa's own Sharon Leverett won first place. Hey, when you add tequila you win…simple as that!!! Al Upchurch came in second and Sandy (Friday) Kayser rounded out third. I would love to tell you they were all good, but I hate sangria, so I'll take everyone's word for it. I already told the powers that be that we are having a White Russian making contest next year, darn it! And yes, it's a perfectly fine breakfast drink!! We also had a door decorating contest and THE HOTEL WON! They did a fabulous job decorating for us, and made us all feel extremely welcomed.
After all that we headed over to the Nav-a-gator where Dennis and Nancy put out some free food and beer while we watch ELEVEN DIFFERENT Trop Rock artists entertain us for five hours. Thanks again to James "Sunny Jim" White for hosting. It was hot as hell but a great afternoon. I think most people will agree that Jack Mosley had the best original song…hey, he wrote it about CHPHC!! Party with a purpose and everybody wins!
I would like to give a special shout out to Tracy & Matt Lehn and Tracy's mom Linda Grother for allowing us to use the Holiday Inn Express as our host hotel, Greg Vogel & Mitzi Weber as BDParty chairs, Jerry York for the fabulous work on the songwriters showcase and Linda Harrison for her hard work on all the fundraising. I know there were many, many more people involved but these people worked their butts off. When you see them make sure you say "Thanks!"
On Tuesday 9/8 was the regular monthly meeting, but due to the big weekend it was pretty low key with John Friday & Dave Lapio entertaining the folks who made it. And, we found out our own little Margo Grimshaw won the Mayor-for-a-Day campaign. She raised over $4,000 for Habitat for Humanity. And looked so cute with her trophy and sash! Way to go Margo!!
